Tony & Franzi’s Wedding

April 2, 2012

My first encounter with Tony and Franzi was a Skype call that did not go according to plan.  While we were able to see each other, Tony and Franzi were unable to hear me, which made for a very funny and interesting  two hour long conversation of me typing  my answers as they spoke.

Tony and Franzi both reside in Texas, but they knew they would be separating for a while as Tony would soon be deployed to the Middle East, and Franzi would return home to Switzerland. With both of them being out of the country, our relationship grew strong and fast.  Our year of Skyping, e-mailing back and forth, and the occasional phone call flew by, creating a line of constant communication, making it a total joy to plan their wedding from A to Z!

Everything for their special day began and ended at the Thayer Hotel in West Point.  As soon as I saw this spectacular venue I knew that this was the place for their military style wedding.

Their day began with a slight chill and over cast, leaving us to ponder whether or not they were going to be able to have their ceremony outdoors with the picturesque views behind them.  We took a chance and proceeded to seat the guests outside, in hopes that mother nature would be kind. Before the guests were seated my assistants cleverly detoured them to sign a wish tag for the bride and groom that were attached to a bundle of white balloons, courtesy of their fabulous MOH Giusepp.

In the end, we lucked out, the rain held off and Tony and Franzi had a lovely outside ceremony, which included a beautifully symbolic sand ceremony uniting their bond to one another, performed by Reverend Louis Zeppone of Hudson Valley Officiants.

The heartfelt ceremony left all the guests smiling as they headed inside for  delicious hor d’ourves and cocktails. During this time Tony and Franzi were able to grab some alone time with their photographer, Cynthia Starr as they took off to take photos on the football field.  Upon their arrival back to the Thayer, they snuck in a private dance right before everyone entered the reception room.  This is becoming a new idea that couples tend to enjoy, giving them a few moments to reflect with one another as husband and wife.

Let the party begin! Their reception, which took place in the Grant Ballroom, was beyond gorgeous. Military flags lined the room, tables were draped with red runners, elegant roses filled the glass centerpieces while candles surrounded them with a twinkle of light.  The red floral accents of Franzi’s beautiful bouquet, in addition to her red hot heels made everything come together. Red up lighting surrounding the room, thanks to the fantastic team of Jade DJ Entertainment. They certainly kicked it up a notch as Joey played all the right songs, while Alfie interacted with the guests making this a fun-tastic time!

As the night went on, the more entertaining it became. Tony’s best man, Chase definitely brought some fun to their wedding as he came up with a few exciting games for all of their guests to play. My favorite was the special twist they put on the classic “musical chairs,” where the men’s knees became the chairs! Another silly game was “find the bobby pins on the groom.” Franzi was blind-folded and had to find 3 bobby pins on her new hubby within three minutes!

Every single memory was captured by the wonderful work of Photography by Cynthia. She and her assistant Kate were almost invisible as they captured timeless photos of the Bride and Groom all throughout the night.

As the night came to an end my assistant and I slipped away to decorate Tony and Franzi’s bridal suite.   On their bed, we created a heart out of red rose petals, adorned the room with candles and scattered the balloons Franzi’s beautiful maid of honor wanted to surprise them with.  Allowing them to keep all their guests’  personalized notes.  A sweet surprise was left on their bedside from JJ’s Rockin Cupcakes with an assortment of yummy goodness for Tony and Franzi to indulge in when they arrived back from their after party.

We could not have been happier to work with an unmatched group of professionals to help make this wedding a timeless night to always remember. The newly Mr. and Mrs. Fusco were truly such a delight to work with and will always bring back happy memories for the Dream Team!
