Hot New Wedding Trend: “Green” does not = PLAIN
A hot new trend for weddings and lifestyle is going green! There are tons of ways to cut down all the waste used in your wedding. Everything from your wedding ring to the dishes you use, now have an alternative Eco-friendly way!
Don’t feel that you can’t have the wedding of your dreams if you go eco-friendly. There are so many options and even by using one or two eco-friendly alternatives you are still helping the environment!
Think Carpooling! Rent a van or a bus to transport your guests to the venue. It cuts down on the gas used, you don’t have to worry about having a lot of parking and it is a safe way to transport the guests who are drinking.
Stay Local! By choosing a venue close to home it profits your local businesses. Look into caterers that use your local farms and produce. This way it cuts back on the transporting of goods which equals less fuel being used and less toxins going into the environment! The food is usually much healthier and once again it gives business to the store around you.
Snap Away! Many people like to put disposable cameras on the tables for the guests to take pictures for the bride and groom. This is an awesome way to remember your day but now there is an even better, eco-friendly way! Websites such as Photo Fest let you rent digital cameras for as cheap as $149 for 5 cameras. All of the photos go straight online, you can print out just the ones you want, which saves paper and they are much better quality! It’s a great way to get high quality photos for an inexpensive price.
Don’t be Wasteful! Don’t over think the favors or centerpieces either. Those two components are sometimes the most overly thought and most wasteful parts of a wedding. For centerpieces, instead of doing flowers in a vase try a potted plant! There are plenty of gorgeous flowers and plants you can use and the best part is they can be re-planted! This benefits you and the environment. You can plant your centerpieces in your yard and it’s a nice way to remember the big day. Or use a three-step process! Plant the flowers and plants in your yard to use for your wedding, then after the big day donate them to a local park. It’s a great way to give back to your community. As for the favors, try to think of something beneficial. You don’t want to spend a lot of money on something that your guests will just throw away once they leave. That’s a waste of your money and the resources used. Many brides today are doing donations or edible favors such as a family recipe for guests to take home! This is much more beneficial and they won’t go to waste!
Just remember you can still have the wedding of you dreams WHILE helping the environment. Don’t think by going green you are going to have anything less than a spectacular day!
