Let them eat (cup)cake!

May 6, 2010

Living in New York City has made me vastly aware of the growing adoration for all things cupcake. Myself included, I am absolutely enamored! There are cupcakes in every corner of the city, and they seem to be popping up everywhere like clockwork. Nothing makes me happier than walking by Billy’s Cupcakes on 9th and 19th near my office and smelling the sweet sweet scent of freshly baked cupcakes. They decorate them in the big front window and it’s really magical to watch. I encourage everyone to take a trip. The cupcake fad is catching on for weddings, too. What’s more fun than a personal bite sized cake, baked and decorated to individual perfection?? It’s the perfect bite! 2010 is all about the details, and this is a trend that will definitely fit the bill; it’s as if they were made especially for everyone on the guest list.

7 Tier Wedding Cupcake Holder

Don’t fret about the top tier of your cake. Of course, you could just as well save the cupcakes for your first anniversary, or better yet, have a top tier made especially for that reason. There are even cake molds for giant cupcakes, which would really make a pretty arrangement!

As I mentioned in my black & white blog, I love the wrappers. They dress a cupcake up beautifully. It would be so easy to dress upPhotobucket

grocery store-bought cupcakes, or if you are crafty (or better yet know someone who is crafty!) give homemade cupcakes a pretty touch! Not to mention

would help out with your budget. They even have wrappers to hang or pin to the cake stand. Be creative, use ribbons, flowers, beading. Fresh flowers

topped on a cupcake would make a very sweet summer decoration. You can go as simple or as decorative as you like.

I love cupcakes! Though it wouldn’t fit our wedding theme, I had a cupcake-themed bridal shower several weeks ago – I planned the details! I prepared six cupcakes from scratch, and the ones that were absolutely divine were the red velvet (with homemade cream cheese frosting). I also made blondie cucpakes, Oreo cheesecake cupcakes, blueberries and cream cupcakes (with homemade whipped cream), champagne cupcakes, and flourless cupcakes. Talk about heaven… it’s about time that cupcakes are catching on!
